Radian 760PB NEO mounted on 340hz JMLC horn (at 3")

I plan on doing a JBL 4355 clone one day.

I think that the 760PB NEO (900-7K) would be a perfect fit :)

Will need to find a smallish horn for it (probably tractrix contour)

The Radian 760PB NEO is quite a beast in its category.

2" exit and 3" diaphragm, very strong magnet.

For my application, on the big 340 Hz JMLC horn, the 3" voice coil is a bit small to obtain optimal results at lower frequency.

Radian recommends a 800 Hz crossover point and takes this recommendation very seriously.

When I was equalizing it flat to push an ~600 Hz with 4th order crossover slope, it was exhibiting a significant rise in distortion from 600 Hz – 800 Hz. The 760NEO was working hard, and sound wise, it was audible. A drawback I accepted at the time, knowing I’d  have to eventually change this. (bought the 950PB later on)

The measurements shown here are with the back cover in place and ~4mm thick felt added in the back cover. Without the rear cover in place, the 2.5 kHz notch is greatly diminished, and the 760 displays a slight increase in performance and sound.

The distortion peak at ~5.33 kHz is due to a dent on the dome I sadly created when I was using it with no rear cover. See picture for details. (new diaphragm on order)

The 2nd 760PB measures the same within 1.5 dB and doesn't exhibit the same 5.33 kHz distortion issue.
