Radian 950PB NEO mounted on 340hz JMLC horn (measured at 3")
The Radian 950PB NEO is a 10 pounds beast. I’ve been considering getting a pair for some time now.
Some reviews suggest it beat out the TAD4001, while others say it's 95% of the TAD at 1/3 the price :)
Not sure who's right, as I don’t have the TAD4001 to compare...

Having the regular aluminum alloy dome, ithe 950PB doesn't reach 20 kHz, but I intend to cut it to a dedicated HF unit anyway. The expensive Beryllium upgrade option is wasted here as the 340 Hz JMLC horn starts beaming at HF, and a dedicated tweeter works way better anyway IMHO.

For my projected application, on the big 340hz JMLC horn, the 950PB does support the ~500 Hz crossover point I use, much better than the smaller 760PB does.

At the top, I'll use a bullet super tweeter (~6.5 kHz ) or the Celestion CDX1-1425 (4 kHz – 5 kHz)
Sound integration will define my final selection.
With the previous 760PB in place, the bullet Beyma CP22 won subjectively, using the 6 kHz point.

I'm also eyeing the small 0.63" BMS 4526ND unit for upgrading the Celestion. I’ll need to investigate the pricing though.

The measurements shown here are with the back cover in place and no felt added in the back cover. (ie: stock item)
I intend to use it without the rear cover as well, once my new system is running.
Late June 2018 system.

This temporary set up was last one used in my Trenton,Ontario house.

Movers arrived and packed everything up on July 12th.

-

-
950PB on 340hz Azura horn
-
CDX1-1425 on STH100 horn

-

No subwoofer used and all acoustic treatments were removed.

I must say it was a decent set-up despite big acoustic problems.

The little B&C 8PE21 in sealed configuration I was testing and compared to the 950PB/horn combo wasn’t able to compete with the 950PB’s sheer dynamics and detail.
Is this a surprise?
-
8PE21 for sale :)

Kidding, I plan on a DIY front horn for the 8PE21 someday.

much smooter
Nough said.

The measurements speak for themselves.
